Season's Greetings for Christmas Craft Creations

Hello and welcome!  It's time for the reminder post for Christmas Craft Creations and this month our challenge is to use snippets (aka your crafty leftovers) to make your creation.

For my card, I used a couple of leftover foiled items - a snowflake foiled background in silver and the foiled and die cut sentiment.

I started with the background and sentiment, then decided I would a cover die to create a shaker card.  The Lawn Fawn Snowflurries Backdrop die was die cut three times from white cardstock then the final time from Simon Says Stamp Silver Glitter.  They layers were adhered together, with a Hero Arts Clear Card Panel between the silver and last white layer to create the shaker front.  The sequin and crystal mix were added in before adhering the back panel, then the entire thing was added to a white cardbase.

The cover die also includes two snowflake dies and four tiny star (?) dies.  I didn't use the snowflakes but after adhering the foiled sentiment to the front of the card, I also added three of the glitter stars, then topped them with red crystals to match the sentiment.  I LOVE all the glitter and the glamorous look, I hope you like it too!

Thanks so much for taking time to drop by.  Please be sure to use the link above to see how the other DT members used their snippets, and hopefully be inspired to join us - you have until February 7th.

Take care!

Stef

Better World

Hello friends and welcome back!  It's time for a new Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers!  Barbara is hosting and has chosen Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight with a dessert option of "thinking of you".  I hope you'll use the SCS link above and join us for the Color Challenge this week!

I'm also joining the current challenge at Just Us Girls where we are to use something "mini".  Hopefully my mini gnome with her house and yard fits that description! ; - )

I just had to use my new Gnomies stamp set because it is just tooooo cute!  I started by ink blending the background with Squeezed Lemonade and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks, splattered with water and set aside.  Once dry, it was die cut with a rounded rectangle die.  Next I found some already die cut grassy hills which I ink blended to resemble Mossy Meadow (SU neutral).  The grass was attached and then I went to work on the sweet little gnome girl, house and other images.

I used Copic markers similar to the challenge colors plus similar to SU neutrals Night of Navy, Basic Gray, Gray Granite and Mossy Meadow.  I'm afraid my marker combo to create the navy roof wasn't as dark as I originally thought, so it's a quite a bit brighter than planned (oops!), but I was cutting time very close and wasn't able to redo it.

I used a warm gray to color the main part of the house but it all seemed to blend into the stone around the door and rocks in front, so first I tried to create texture with colorless blending solution and a piece of gauze.  That worked but wasn't sufficient, so I used two brown and a black Prismacolor pencils to create more shading and a softer brown look.  I have to admit I was tickled pink with the result!

With the coloring complete and the images die cut, it was all adhered to the ink blended panel then added to a white card base.  I used a white gel pen to put dots on the mushrooms and light lines on the house windows.

Thanks so much for visiting, I truly appreciate it!  Have a great week!

Follow Your Heart

Hello friends and welcome back!  It's time for a new Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers!  Karen is hosting this week and has chosen Poppy Parade, Mango Melody and Cajun Craze, with a dessert option to use a frame.

I decided to pull out a Stampin' Up stamp set that I've had for years and not used very often, which is too bad because the images are so cute.  I guess that's why I've held onto it all these years.  Anyway, I thought a brightly colored trailer would make a fun card. The image was colored with Copic markers with colors similar to those in the challenge, using the "Cajun" color to shade the Mango on the door and flag.  I also created green bushes in the background with colors similar to SU neutral Mossy Meadow and used neutral browns for the ground.

Initially I used gray Copics for the metal trim on the trailer but then decided to go over it with a Silver glaze pen.  A light gray marker was used to create streaks across the window, which was later covered with Crystal Effects to give it the look of glass.  Finally, little clouds were die cut and shaded with a gray marker, adhered to the panel which was then added to a slightly larger panel of Poppy.  The background striped paper is from my stash and was cut with a frame die, then a white frame inserted when the background was added to the card base.  The final touch was to add a few Doodle sprinkles.

Thanks visiting, I appreciate it so much!  I hope you'll use the link above and join us for the Color Challenge this week!
