I have a few "mythical creatures" in my crafty stash but I've been working on cards for children and teens to contribute to the Cards for Cubs card drive for children in the foster system, so I pulled out an old favorite stamp and die set from MFT (which is now closed, sadly).
I love this cute dragon flying with the little child on his back. I decided to go with a purple dragon just for fun. I like this image because child could be a boy or a girl.
After coloring and die cutting the image, I added some fun dots on the dragon with my white gel pen. The next step was to create a background. Oh boy, did I fuss around with this, but finally decided to crop the stenciled cloudy sky background down with a circle die, then adhere the dragon and child directly to it. I wanted a little bit of texture on the card base and found this panel already cut with a cover die. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not but, in the end, thought it worked okay, especially in the light green color. Let me know what you think.
The sentiment is from an old Lawn Fawn stamp set. It was cut with a label die then I fished tailed the ends. Both it and the circle were then added to the card front with foam tape, and I finished things off with a few purple enamel dots.
I hope you'll join us for this fun challenge! For more ideas and inspiration, take a moment to visit the challenge blog to see the fabulous cards by my talented teammates. The challenge will remain open until Friday, March 6th at 3pm EST.

Card is so cute and love your colors
Stef, your little purple dragon and sweet little girl is adorable! Your coloring is always the best! The white dots add so much detail to the dragon. The clouds are the perfect background for this pair of cuties. I love the color combo! The green embossed panel adds texture. I hope you have a wonderful week, My Friend!
Stef, today's card is one that makes me say, "Aww"! This is such a sweet image. Who can resist a purple dragon with "freckles"? As always, your coloring is exquisite. Such a wonderful mix of hues! Of course, the background texture is perfect. Have an amazing week!
Your card is adorable, Stef, and I love the vibrant colors on the dragon! Green and purple are my favorite colors and that super-saturated purple color is just gorgeous. I love the cloudy background and I think the embossed green works perfectly to coordinate with the dragon's belly and spines. Thanks for making my challenge shine this week, I love your card!
What a beauty! The design is superb as is the creation of a sky for the dragon to fly in. To me, the best bit is the vibrancy and richness of the colours... glorious!
Your purple dragon is perfectly magical! What a fun card!
That stamp is so cute Stef and the dragon is coloured to perfection as always! I actually really like the way you cropped the scene and placed it on to the coverplate background; the green picks up the detail on the dragon and it's a great way to feature a coverplate (or an EF) without it being the star of the show. A fabulous card!
As always, you have the cutest images and your coloring is terrific! Who wouldn't love a purple dragon? That background is perfect for a flying dragon too! Great colors and great embossing as well!
