Bunny Kisses for the Paper Players

Hello friends and Happy Easter!  It's time for a new challenge at the Paper Players.  The amazing Elizabeth is hosting CAS week, and she has chosen the prompt Bunny.

I had some fun with this one, I hope it'll make you smile!

I decided to use the Bounding Bunnies from SSS and actually have them bound across the card!  The bunnies have two layers, one is the white front and the other goes behind to add color to the ear interior.  It also has a spot for the tail, where I chose to use little pompoms from my stash.

The sentiments are from the SSS Happy Eggs set and after die cutting, were lined up in the middle of the card.  Well, except the Bunny Kisses was added a little too close to the ampersand, so there's a bit more room at the bottom than the top.  But hey, it's handmade not store bought, right?

After adhering the bunnies and "tails", I used a black glaze pen to color in the eyes and add a bitty nose, then used a light pink Copic marker to add just a smidge of pink to give them rosy cheeks.  I thought about adding some gems, but I wanted to leave more "white space" since I knew my card was already pushing the boundaries for CAS lol!

Ears to You for Color Hues

Hello friends!  Today I'm sharing my card for the latest challenge at Color Hues!  The delightful and talented Nancy will be our host for the next two weeks and she has chosen a beautiful color combination.

I love this soft color pairing and decided to make a cute and simple Easter card.

I adore that big bunny and used it a couple of years ago to create shaped Easter cards for the grands, but this time I wanted to use her on a card front.  Because of her size, the card ended up being A7.

Starting with the background, I randomly ink blended Shaded Lilac and Salvaged Patina over a panel of mixed media paper.  When the ink dried the panel was embossed with tiny polka dots and then trimmed down. 

The bunny, flowers and leaves were die cut in white, then ink blended with the same colors.  The bunny was adhered to the blended background, added to the card front and decorate with one flower and the leafy branches.  The sentiment was stamped, fussy cut and added to the card with thin foam squares.  I decided it still looked a little bare, so the remaining flower and two leaves were adhered in the corner.  The last touch was to add Glossy accent to the bunny's gray eye and Stardust Stickles to the white flower centers.

Happy Easter for the SCS Color Challenge

Hello and welcome!  It's week two of guest designing for the Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers and this week Jeanne has given us a great combination of Pretty Peacock, Rococo Rose and So Saffron with the fourth color of Just Jade to add for "dessert".  I was in need of more Easter cards, so I used the same stamps and a layout similar to this card, which was my DT card for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge.

I just adore these gnomes and it was fun to color them up with the challenge colors, plus the addition of neutral brown.  I used Copic markers to color them then the gnome trio was die cut with matching dies.  The eggs are from a different stamp set and they were fussy cut after being colored.

Next I used a couple of Distress Inks that were close to So Saffron and Just Jade, ink blending them on a panel of Bristol paper, then die cutting with a deckled rectangle die.  I used that die to cut two additional layers then adhered them altogether before adding to the white card base.  The gnomes on either side of the bunny gnome were glued directly to the background, along with the two eggs, then the bunny gnome was added with thin foam squares and that finished things off!

Hoppy Easter for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Hello and welcome! It's time for a new Tic Tac Toe Challenge and this week Silke has given us this fun board to spark our imagination!  

Tic Tac Toe Challenge

I chose to go across the middle row - die cuts, coloring, Easter Bunny, but actually it would also work for the right column or the upper left to bottom right diagonal.

I'm also joining the current challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where the current theme Use Your Favorite Things.  Well, by far, my favorite things include Copic markers and dies. ;-)

I love these gnomes and have only used this set once, so it was high time to ink it up again!  Besides, my daughter and grandkids will get a kick out of it!  

The gnomes were stamped, colored with Copic markers and die cut with coordinating dies.  The Easter eggs are from another stamp set and were fussy cut after coloring.  For the background, I lightly ink blended Distress Oxide inks and after they dried, the panel was die cut then the sentiment stamped.  

The rest of the card was pretty easy.  The peacock layer was die cut and adhered directly to the white card base, then the embossed strip of light green added.  The inked panel was added using thin foam tape other than over the embossed panel.  Two of the gnomes and the Easter eggs were adhered directly to the inked panel, then our Easter Bunny gnome added with foam tape to finish things off!

Happy Easter for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Hello friends!  So glad you came by to visit and I hope you're doing well.  It's time for a new Tic Tac Toe Challenge!  This week Claire has brought us a spring/Easter board to inspire us!  For my card, I went down the left column - bunny, pastel colors and die cuts.

I have been totally smitten with the line of Anita Jeram stamps from Colorado Card Company, one of which I used for this card.

I love this precious scene with the mama (or papa) helping the two young bunnies collect Easter eggs! The image was stamped on white cardstock then colored with Copic markers.  I used warm greys to color the bunnies - it's a pretty simple scene and didn't take much time to color. I used a white gel pen to add polka dots to the pink egg and strips to the blue one.

Next, the sentiment was stamped in black pigment ink.  When that dried, both the main panel and the yellow mat were die cut with the Elegant Rectangle die, then added to the pink card base with foam tape.  The final touch was to add some pink clay hearts, which helped balance out the whole scene.

Bunny Love

Hello friends and welcome back!  Today I'm joining the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge, using this wonderful sketch from Linda Callahan.

For my card I flipped the sketch from the top of the card to the bottom so it would work better with the sweet bunny I used.

I am totally smitten with the Anita Jeram line of stamps from Colorado Craft Company.  Isn't that the sweetest bunny????  The stamp comes with a scene of mom (or dad) with two little bunnies collecting eggs, then a stand along bunny holding an egg facing left.  Because I wanted a bunny facing right, I stamped the scene, colored this cutie with Copic markers, then fussy cut him.  I also stamped two additional eggs and used the coordinating die to cut them out.

The rest of the card came together super easy.  I cut three one-quarter inch strips of pastel cardstock, adhered them to the card base, then stamped, die cut and added the sentiment to the bottom right corner with foam tape.  The sweet bunny was also popped up with foam tape, then the eggs adhered directly to the card.  Finally, I added some pink clay hearts to show all the love being sent :-).  Super quick and easy!

Easter Parade

Hello friends!  It's time for a new Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers!  Barbara is hosting and has chosen Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo and Pineapple Punch with a dessert option of spring or Easter.  I was in need of a few more Easter cards, so that's the direction I went.  I used the darling Bundle Girl with Chocolate Bunny stamp, coloring it up with Copic markers similar to challenge colors plus those similar Stampin' Up neutrals Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso. I also used this stamp for my Paper Players design team card last week, with a different layout and colors. Here's a link to that card.

After stamping the image in Copic friendly ink, the first step was to create the background sky, using the lightest blue green marker.  Next I colored up the image with my Copics.  I gave her bright yellow boots, because that grass might be wet (!) and thought it went well with her cute blue green outfit.

For the grass I used a light green to color in the entire base, then flicked darker greens over the top.  When the coloring was complete the panel was trimmed down to fit within the scallop panel stitching and a white gel pen added polka dots to her little bonnet.  Flirty Flamingo card stock was used for the base, which was stamped in white pigment ink with a floral background stamp.  After that dried, the main image was added using fun foam for some nice dimension, as was the sentiment.

Happy Easter for The Paper Players!

Hello friends and welcome back!  I hope this finds you safe and healthy!  It's sketch week at The Paper Players and the lovely Claire has created an excellent and versatile one.

With Easter coming up, I thought this sketch would work perfectly for my cute little Bundle Girl and her BIG chocolate bunny!!

Isn't that adorable?  After stamping with Gina K Amalgam ink I used Copic markers to color up the scene.  The colors are similar to those on the packaging picture, except I switched them around a bit.  The picture is also a great guide for shading, taking some of the guess work out of it.

Next I used a large oval to cut out the image.  Because it is so large, I had to adjust my card size to 4.5" x 5.75" (fortunately I have an envelope punch board, so I can make a custom envelope).  I also die cut an A2 sized scallop rectangle to layer beneath and found some long retired textured card stock in Early Espresso for the strip elements.

I decided the pink layer looked a bit too plain so I found some sweet little leaf, berry and floral images with which to create my own background, using white pigment ink to keep it very subtle.  You can see it in the bottom right corner in the photo above.  Much of it is covered up with the other layers but it just adds that "somethin', somethin'" that I felt was missing.  Lastly, the oval was added to the main card with fun foam, then I stamped the sentiment in brown and layered it on the oval with thin foam squares.
