Tangelo Dawn

Hi there and happy Saturday!  The card I have to share today uses the Global Design Project color challenge and the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts.

The color challenge was just that, but I decided to use it to create a scene with the sky a blazing orange just before dawn, fully embracing the bright colors in this challenge!  For the sketch, I substituted a rectangle for the circle and added a little tab with the sentiment.

The scene from In the Meadow was stamped in Archival Basic Black on watercolor paper, then water colored using an Aqua Painter and ink pads in the challenge colors.  I started at the top of the sky with the darkest amount of ink on the brush, then worked my way down towards the mountain tops, using more water from the pen to lighten the color, trying to capture the look of some pre-dawn mornings I've seen while camping, with artistic license of course!!

Once the scene was complete and dry, it was trimmed and adhered to a slightly larger piece of retired Core'dinations Early Espresso card.  I still like using it because of the texture (here's wishing Stampin' Up! would bring back textured card stock!!). The striped Bermuda Bay designer series paper was laid down on the Early Espresso base, topped with a horizontal strip of embossed Tangelo Twist, then wrapped with Linen Thread and finally topped with the water colored piece.

Well, that's it for tonight.  Thanks for the visit and do be sure to use the links above to the challenge blogs and check out all the amazing inspiration. I'd love to hear from you if you have a moment to leave a comment!

Hugs,

Stef
