Hello and welcome back! It's Monday and time to post my weekly sample for the Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers. Our hostess Maura has chosen the lovely combination of Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive and Bermuda Bay, with embossing as "dessert".
I had a left over frame from another project, had my plan for the card all decided, then when I went to put it together, I didn't like it. Arrgghh! I tried a couple of floral two step stamps using Elegant Eggplant, but it's such a dark purple that even stamping off the ink for the interior (petals versus the outline), it still wasn't light enough. So I looked through all my stamps and finally came upon the flower from Blooming with Kindness and voila, the card came together!
The Bermuda Bay frame, left over from another project, seemed perfect for this challenge. I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to go under the frame, used a pencil to lightly mark the lower right corner, then used a Stampamajig to stamp the sentiment. After stamping the flower in Elegant Eggplant, I used a Blender pen to pull ink into the petals from the stamped image, just lightly brushing it forward so as not to pill the paper, then used Old Olive ink to color the stem.
Next I took a strip of Whisper White, punched it with a border punch, adhered an embossed piece of Old Olive just above the scallops, then added it to the frame just at the bottom of the opening. After wrapping the panel with Whisper White Baker's Twine, it was popped up on Dimensionals onto a Thick Whisper White card base.
There you have it! Thanks so much for the visit and I would love to hear from you if you have a moment to leave a comment! Be sure to use the link above and join us in the SCS Color Challenge this week!
Hugs,
Stef
