Dragonfly Hello

Hello again!  Tonight I'm posting a super easy card made for two challenges - the sketch challenge at Global Design Project and the color challenge at Pals Paper Arts.  I've added links below to each challenge so be sure to click on them and enjoy all the amazing inspiration.

I love the simplicity of the sketch, so I kept the elements minimal.  I was going for a more "organic" look after deciding to use some retired Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper with its beautifully embossed flowers, so I pulled out the dragonfly stamp from Awesomely Artistic, and also incorporated the nice texture of the Jute ribbon.

After deciding on the card elements, it seemed that the background on the card base needed to "pop" a bit more, so I used a Blender Pen inked with a bit of Craft Whisper White ink to color some of the flowers.  After coloring, I used a cloth to rub off the excess ink, including on the embossed parts of the flower.  After the ink dried the ribbon and buttons were adhered to the base.

For the color challenge, I decided on Bermuda Bay ink for the dragonfly, reminiscent of dragon and damsel flies we see here in the Northwest during the summer.  The stamp was first inked in Versamark then Bermuda Bay, heat embossed with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder then fussy cut with my Paper Snips.  The sentiment was cut from the brilliantly bright Cucumber Crush card stock with a Greetings Thinlits.  I did substitute the Kraft dsp for Crumb Cake - I hope that doesn't disqualify me from the challenge!

Thanks for the visit and of course I would love to hear from you if you have a moment to leave a comment!

Hugs,

Stef
