Hello friends! I hope you're doing well. Today I'm sharing a card I made for my husband's birthday and it works perfectly for two challenges - Festive Friday (3 elements - mountains, things with wheels and blue) and Watercooler Wednesday Challenge where the current theme is All About Occasions.
The card was created using the Big Pickup Cab stamp and die from Honey Bee Stamps, because my husband loves his pickup. 😏 For Valentine's Day I made him a card with the rear view of the pickup loaded with hearts here. Such clever stamps!
I started by stamping and coloring the pickup with Copic markers, then it was die cut with the coordinating die. Originally I was going to place it on a stenciled background but I didn't like how it looked, so I decided to do a loose watercolor background using Distress Inks.
The background panel of watercolor paper was trimmed down to 5.25" x 7.25". I began by painting the "road", then the green followed by gray/blue mountains then a blue sky, drying with a heat tool between each step. I went back into the upper part of the green and used a darker shade to create the sketchy treeline. The background came out a bit muted but I wanted the star of the show to be the pickup.
The panel was trimmed down and adhered to a white card base, a white frame was added to the top then the truck and the sentiment popped up on foam tape. Glossy Accents was applied to the headlights and turn signals and when dry I applied a bit of white gel pen to them and other areas of the truck.

Well, this is all kinds of fabulous, Stef!!! I love the background you created, the use of the white frame on your card front, and the brilliantly coloured truck. Your hubby is so lucky to be a regular recipient of your gorgeous works of art - does he realise that?! LOL.
