Hi friends and welcome back! I have a fun card to share that I made for three different challenges. First is the Teapot Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, where we are making cards for a fellow SCSer who is not able to join in the challenges she used to enjoy. Anne made the funniest cards and loves the color red, so we're encouraged to do the same for her.
Next I'm joining the current challenge at The Paper Players, where the theme is Crazy for Critters. And finally I'm entering the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where the theme is to create a matching envelope to go with our card.
What I discovered in trying to create a humorous card for Anne is that I am sorely lacking in funny stamp sets (now added to my never ending shopping list ha ha!), but I did find a couple Tim Holtz stamp sets that worked well for all three challenges.
Freddie the dachshund is just waiting for someone to throw the ball but "what the?" no one is playing. I thought Anne would get a chuckle and hope she gets back to "playing" on SCS as soon as she is able. Freddie and his ball, along with the sentiment, were stamped on Neenah Solar White and colored with Copic markers, adding shading beneath both in dark green before creating the lawn with multiple green Copics. I used a gradient of blues to create the sky then cut the panel with a Wonky Rectangle die.
I also stamped Freddie on the envelope corner, slipping a piece of scrap paper inside the envelope before Copic coloring so the ink would not seep through the back of the envelope. I think he looks sooo cute, I am now excited about decorating envelope exteriors too, when appropriate! Sorry about the photo quality above, the color on the card is just as vibrant as that on the envelope IRL.
Thanks so much for visiting, I always appreciate it so much! I've added links to all three challenges above, so I hope you'll check them out!
Stef

Stef the expression on your dachschund is priceless - I can think of many dogs (and owners!) who could identify with this! Your colouring is exquisite - I spent a lot of time looking at your card with a view to picking up some tips, even the grass is so realistic! Love the envelope too as the perfect finishing touch. Thanks for playing along with us over at The Paper Players this week!
Oh Stef, this is just adorable! I love the gorgeous background you created for your little doggie! Love the sentiment and the envelope! So happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week! XX
Wonderful card & envelope Steph! The image is super cute and I love the scene you've created.
Thanks for joining us at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
