Happy Thoughts

Hi there and welcome back!  I have a card to share made for the current Mojo Monday challenge at the blog of Julee Tilman (link below).  I had to swap sides for the longer panel on the sketch so it would work with my floral image.  In fact, I had to change a lot of things from my original plan for this card, but that always seems to be the norm for my crafting adventures ha ha!!

I hadn't planned to use this floral image on this card, but ended up loving it.  This was more of an experiment in Copic coloring, but I love the image and the coloring turned out how I was hoping, soft colors and definitely playful without worrying about proper shading.  And, quite honestly, an experiment with blending these colors, so the blending technique could definitely use some more work.  Additionally, instead of using black ink, I stamped the floral image with Memento London Fog, which is a very blue hued gray.

After the coloring was complete and the panel trimmed down, it became suddenly evident that it was too big for an A2 sized card, regardless of how small I made the sentiment panel.  Plan B - make a 5x7" card but all of a sudden the base seemed to be dwarfing the image.  Soooo, rather than throw in the towel on this plan, I added the die cut flourish down the side and mounted everything to a slightly smaller panel with scoring at the top and bottom. It worked to better frame and balance the main images.

I love these light blue violet colors - I was ready for a big change after making tons of  Christmas cards LOL!!  I added a shadow around the right side of the flowers, then used a very light blue to create the background, which ended up inspiring the color of the ribbon wrapped around the larger panel.

Thanks so much for visiting, it's always so appreciated!!  I've added a link to the Mojo Challenge, so be sure to check it out!

Stef
