I decided to go diagonal on the tttc board - polka dots, die cuts, embossing - and had oodles of fun making this cute slimline Christmas card!

Oh my, those sweaters with the cute images just drew me in and then. The. Sentiments.  Love a good pun!  The stamp set is new from Colorado Craft Company and the illustrator is new to 3C as well.  Her name is Kris Lauren and I was totally smitten with her work along with those of Anita Jeram.  Lots of cute Christmas cards in the near future!

Anyway, I stamped out these three sweaters, colored them with Copic markers and then used the dies to cut them out.  My white gel pen was handy in adding polka dots on the sleeves of the bear sweater and some extra line detail on the deer sweater.   

The background panel was ink blended with Speckled Egg Distress ink, which I was thrilled to find matched my BG markers beautifully.  Next I used a snowflake stencil and applied Glitz Glitter gel over it for some pretty sparkle.  While that dried, the sentiments were red heat embossed and die cut.  I adhered the background panel to the white card base, laid out all the components how I wanted them arranged, then adhered them all with thin foam squares and I was finished!  My husband even liked this card (although he rolled his eyes at the puny sentiment), so while it's not one I would mass produce, I have enough time before the holidays to make a few more to send out this year.

Holiday Cheer

Hello and welcome!  Today I'm sharing a card that I made for the current CAS Christmas Card Challenge and the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge. I've made two Christmas cards this month and I'm hoping to join these challenges each month in 2022 so I can avoid that year end scramble to make enough Christmas cards!  

CAS Christmas Card Challenge

I decided on a very simple design for may card, trying to keep it as CAS as possible.  

To start, I die cut the three sizes of trees (small, medium and large) from Matte Gold cardstock, then die cut the medium once more from white and the small twice more from white.  I used a snowflake embossing folder on a panel of white, and after trimming it down to 4" x 5.25", layered it on two additional panels of scrap white and adhered it to the card base.  

Next the trees were adhered to the card front, those extra layers of trees giving a nice bit of dimension.  The sentiment was silver heat embossed, then was trimmed down by hand, then added with foam tape under the left side and a bit of tape runner on the right.  Super simple, not even any sequins or baubles!

Jingle All the Way for Sunday Stamps

Hello and welcome!  It's time for a new challenge at Sunday Stamps and this time Heather has given us a great sketch to work with.

In trying to design my card using the image I wanted, I ended up flipping the sketch on the side.

I don't know if I'll ever get tired of using this fun and energetic Santa LOL!  He was stamped, colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  Next the sentiment was red heat embossed on white and die cut with a fishtail sentiment die.  The die was too long for the sentiment, so I ended up cutting it twice, moving the end of the die up closer to the word on the right end on the second pass.  I hope that makes sense!

Next I trimmed down the patterned paper for the background and the horizontal strip.  The larger piece was adhered directly to the card base, and after matting the strip on white and wrapping with Baker's Twine (yay, my stash yielded just what I needed!), it was added to the card with thin foam squares.  Santa and the sentiment were also popped up with foam.  The snowflakes were die cut three times, once from white glitter and twice from scraps of white cardstock, layered and adhered to the panel.  Unfortunately, they did not photograph well, but adding the dimension helps make them stand out from the background better IRL. The final touch was a bit of glimmer pen added to the "fur" on Santa's hat.

Winter Anemone

Hello and welcome! Today I'm sharing a card that I made for The Flower Challenge theme to add leaves and the Peace On Earth Christmas Challenge, which is Anything Goes.

I'm also joining the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is also Anything Goes.

I decided to go with a pink and gray for the flowers and used a light mint color in the background, going a little non-traditional for this Christmas card.

I love the delicate design of this stamp set.  I used Copic markers to color it from the muted pinks in the R80s.  I've had these markers almost since I first started learning to color with Copics four years ago but rarely use them. That is going to change - I love these pinks!  After the coloring was complete, I used a white gel pen for the ends of the stamen and die cut the image with the matching die.

On another panel of white I stenciled a design using a light mint color (which unfortunately looks a bit grayed out in the photos).  The panel was die cut then the word Merry was stamped in the upper right.  The panel was added to a white card base, then the rest of the sentiment was heat embossed in silver on a strip of gray and die cut with a label die.  The flowers were added with thin foam tape, as was the sentiment strip, then I used some silver embellies to finish things off.

Ho Ho Ho for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge

I really love the Big Pickup Truck and Big Pickup Tailgate stamps from Honey Bee Stamps so I decided to use the pickup tailgate on for this card.  It's not one I can mass produce for the holidays but I will make a few to send.

For starters, I stamped multiples of everything - the truck, the tailgate, the tree, packages and Santa's bag full of toys.  Also, when I stamped the truck, I stamped the back of Santa in the cab, waiving as he hurries to get everything home before the snow comes down too heavy. (Obviously, it's just started because the tires aren't entirely covered with snow - oops lol!)  Colored it all with Copic markers and used the matching dies to cut everything out.  

To accommodate the size of the truck, a panel of mixed media paper was trimmed down to 5x5 inches, which is the final size of the card.  Distress Ink was used to create the sky, ground and stenciled trees.  The truck was then assembled, adhering the tree and packages directly to the truck, then using thin foam tape to add the bag of gifts.  The tailgate was then added with regular foam tape.  

Next I used both white acrylic paint and white gouache to splatter snow on the background and the truck. I also used the paint to cover the "ground" and add a bit to the tires.  I set those aside to dry and created the sentiment. The word Christmas was die cut twice from white cardstock and once from red polished foil.  I used double sided adhesive sheets on those papers and the vellum used for the shadow, just to make things easier.  The merry was stamped in green pigment ink then die cut with a label die.  Once all the paint was dry, the background was mounted on a white card base, the truck adhered directly to the background, then the sentiment was added to finish things off.

Selfie Christmas for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge

For my card, I went across the middle row of the tic tac toe board - critter, green or blue, snow.  The stamp set I used has six fun images so I opted to create a slimline card to include two of those images. My card ended up being 8 3/4" x 3 3/4".

I love Stacey Yakula's illustrations and when I saw this new set from MFT it immediately went into my cart, along with that cute holiday patterned paper!  I started by stamping and Copic coloring both selfie images, using marker colors similar to those in the patterned paper.  When that was complete, I pulled out my splatter box and used white gouache to add the snow.  I was a bit too "enthusiastic" with my splatter, which resulted in too much on the face of the deer, so I did have to use a Copic multiliner pen to reemphasize the eyes.  

Next the sentiment was die cut twice from white card stock and once from red foil paper, then layered for some nice dimension.  Because the patterned paper is 6x6, which wouldn't cover length of the card, I die cut two patterns of the paper, adding one on each end of the card base, then covered the middle with a panel of light blue embossed with snowflakes.  The critter panels were die cut and layered on a slightly larger square, then added with thin foam tape.  With the sentiment glued to the center, my last step was to add a few white snowflakes around the card.

When I saw Heidi's sketch, I narrowed my choices to leaves or snowflakes...and snowflakes won out because I wanted to use a couple of the gorgeous new Tim Holtz Mica Stain Sprays.

For starters, I took an oversized piece of multi-media paper that could withstand water and sprays, and had a fun time creating this background.  I used two of the green blue colors (my photos pick up more of the blue shade - IRL it turned out more of a teal shade), sprayed in spots on the panel, sprayed with water to mix it, then heat set it.  I did this a couple of times then set it aside to dry overnight.  The next day, I die cut the panel with a rectangle die, splattered it with white metallic paint, which was a bit too faint, so I went to white gouache for a brighter effect.  As with many shiny applications, the beautiful shimmer of the mica sprays unfortunately isn't discernable in the photos.

For even more sparkle, the snowflakes were die cut from white glitter cardstock.  I used Liquid Platinum to heat emboss the sentiment, trimmed it down, then added more embossing around all the edges.  The sprayed panel was added to the 5" x 7" white card base with foam tape, then the snowflakes were adhered with just a touch of liquid glue at the centers so I could get some lift on the outer portions of the flakes. The sentiment was popped up with thin foam tape and the final touch was to add a few sequins.

Snow Globe Deer

Hello and welcome!  Today I'm slipping in on the final hours of a new challenge - the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge.  It's twice monthly and brought to us by the tireless (this is their 4th blog!) and oh-so-talented Diane and Darlene!  I just found out about it today (thanks Michele) and saw that I had a couple of hours left to join in.  Be sure to head over there and check it out.  From the participation, it looks like they have another hit on their hands!

Peach on Earth Christmas

I made this card a few days ago just for fun, so it was great to have on hand for the challenge. I used a cute new Stamping Bella stamp set with a snow globe and three sets of critters that can be stamped inside of it.  I decided to go with the darling little deer. 

Didn't I say they were cute?  These are very tiny images, so I did very simple Copic coloring, including the background and the base for the snow globe.  And of course, what's a snow globe with out snow? I created the snow using a white gel pen.  When the coloring was complete, I fussy out the image.

Next a panel of white was sprayed with some shimmer spray (photos don't pick that up unfortunately), embossed with a snow embossing folder, die cut with on of the Altenew Mix and Match Frames dies, then mounted on the navy card base with foam tape.  The sentiments, which are from a different stamp set, were white heat embossed on navy then trimmed out.  First the globe was added to the panel with thin foam tape, then the sentiments were added, also with thin foam tape to finish things off.
