Pups & Kisses for The Paper Players and Sunday Stamps

Hello friends, I hope you are continuing to stay safe and healthy!  It's time for a new challenge at The Paper Players, where it is Clean and Simple week and the fabulous LeAnne has given us a fun theme of Pets.  It's also time for a new Sunday Stamps challenge, where we have a terrific sketch for you!  I decided to combine both challenges for my card this week.

For my card I combined old and new, using some long hoarded saved patterned paper and a relatively new stamp set.

This cute pup was just begging to be used (so to speak 😄), so I stamped and colored him up with Copic markers.  For the background used a very soft, light brown, then created some grass for him to be standing on.  This was my second try.  For the first attempt I colored him with colored pencils and was so happy with how he turned out, but then I added colors to the background that were AWFUL.  I thought about fussy cutting him and creating a new background, but instead went the quick and easier route with the markers, which I liked much better.

Next, the Ivory card base was created and stamped with a Lined by Hand background stamp.  I wanted it subtle because of the CAS challenge but I'm not sure you can even see it in the photos.  Next a panel of some fun and funky Basic Grey patterned paper was added to the right side.  The two strips and the die cut circle are also from that same paper pack.  The sentiment was stamped, die cut and added to the lower strip and our sweet doggie die cut with a circle die, adhered to the larger circle and added to the card with foam tape.  Lastly, the three enamel dots were added to finish things off.

Thanks so much for visiting, I always appreciate it!  Be sure to use the links above to check out both challenges and all the fabulous cards by the other DT members!

This is adorable, Stef! I couldn't wait to comment! I recognize that print paper too...an oldie but goodie! Your dog is just the cutest and I love the sketch! Your spacing looks okay to me on the blog itself...I am sorry I am a tech ignoramus so I would be no help at all on anything!

Well, it's a good thing you hung on to that paper because it's a perfect match on your card! *wink, wink* This little pupper is so stinking cute and I love how you created the grassy detail. Wow! the layout is pretty fab, too. Just a "pawsome" card, all around!

What a little cutie that dog is and I am always a fan of DSP - I think I might need to save this sketch layout and play with it some other time. Great card Stef!
