Coral Birthday

Good evening!  I hope your week has been going well.  The Paper Players have a great sketch challenge this week and I was happy I was able to join in with tonight's card.  I don't always have time to play along with this challenge, so I was glad it worked out this week.

I pulled out the new Love is Kindness single stamp and inked up just the floral image, leaving off the sentiment so the image would fit in an oval shape.  It was colored with Calypso Coral and Old Olive Blendability markers.

I started with a base of Sahara Sand card stock.  In order to accommodate the oval image, the card size was expanded from the normal A2 (4.25" x 5.5") to 5" x 7".  The next layer is a cute piece of Etcetera dsp with Calypso Coral polka dots.  The stamped image was backed with Island Indigo card stock cut with the next size up Oval framelit.

I added the super cute lace trim and white cotton twine and then I was kind of stuck.  I knew the card needed something else for a bit of extra "oomph" and then I saw the butterfly, left over from a failed project, that was just waiting to be used. It added just that one extra element I was looking for.

Thanks so much for the visit!  Please be sure to use the link to check out the wonderful inspiration over at Paper Players and join in if you have time, although you may have to hurry as the deadline to post your card is mid-day tomorrow.  If you have a moment, I would love it if you'd leave a comment; always love to hear from those that take time to drop by!

Hugs,

Stef

Stef, I love the newspaper wrapped around the flowers - it really takes the image to an entirely different level and I love that little butterfly. What a great take on the sketch! so glad it worked out for you to play along with us this week
