Joyful Wishes

Hi there!  A bonus post today.  I made this card earlier this afternoon for the challenge at Seize the Sketch (http://www.seizethesketch.blogspot.com/) but when I went to post it discovered I had missed the deadline!  Arrgghh!  At that point I decided to post another card to my blog that I had completed late last week and wait until tonight to share this one.

Doesn't that poinsettia look lovely?  I don't take credit for originating the idea of the technique used to create the flower, so I feel I can safely say that.  It's been all over the Internet and Splitcoast Stampers, so when Stampin' Up! had the set on sale the end of November, I succumbed to it's siren song.  The upside is that I think it will be one I will use in years to come, it is such a lovely image and sentiment.

The poinsettia image was stamped twice onto vellum card stock with Versamark, heat embossed with white embossing powder, then fussy cut with my paper snips.  While the hand cutting seems like a lot of extra work (yes, dies would have been much quicker!), the fact is the lines are pretty thick and it was not hard to cut out relative to many other Stampin' Up sets I've fussy cut.  The sentiment was heat embossed as well, but on to Winter Frost designer paper.  I reduced the card base to 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" so that the flower overhang would still fit into an A2 envelope.

Okay, all of you that check out my blog on a regular basis...a big sigh of relief...this will likely be the last Christmas card I post in 2013!  Thanks for putting up with the holiday overload, but it is rather my style for making holiday cards.  I really dislike making several of the same exact cards, let alone 60+, so I tend to make several styles.  Thanks for hanging in there!

Well, off to bed soon.  Take care and, again, have a great week ahead!

Hugs,

Stef

This is beautiful, Stef. The poinsettia sure does look gorgeous white-embossed on vellum, and I love how you embossed the sentiment directly onto the DSP.
