Hello friends! Did the month of January fly by as quickly for you as it did for me? Wow! But the good news is that it's time for a new challenge at Color Hues! The amazing Tracey will be hosting for the next two weeks and has chosen the timely colors of red and pink.
We are also excited to share with you that we are partnering up this challenge with the Inkspirational Challenge!
Inkspirational is a two-week challenge that features a rotation of: Word Prompt, Designer's Choice, Mood Board, Clean and Simple, Use Stencils and Seasonal. We are teaming up together in order to perhaps introduce challenge participants of both to another challenge that maybe they weren't familiar with. We hope you'll play along with us by linking up to both challenges!
I'm also playing along with the lovelies over at the Time Out Challenge, where they have a fun new challenge called Pick Two. I've chosen heart and layers.
So, now after all that, let's get on to the card!
A little back story here too...I purchased this stamp set last year but never used it. I was reminded of it and inspired by the lovely and talented Donna Mikasa where she shared this card for CH101. And since it was hearts, I knew it would make the perfect Valentine card for Tracey's pink and red challenge.
I started by stamping the hearts with the three layering stamps that create nine hearts with different designs, six of which you can see above. I just love that! And then there is a single die that cuts them all out.
I decided to make a square card, so I cut a white panel that was large enough to include the sentiment in the middle, layered that panel on a black mat, which was added to the pink scallop square and popped up on a white 5"x 5" card base. Rather than add embellishments, I painted the hearts with a shimmer pen then covered them with glossy accents to make them shiny and pretty! This card will be heading off to my granddaughter in Oregon (yes, my adult grands still like getting Valentine's from me lol!).
So what are you inspired to create with these colors? It doesn't have to be a Vday card, just as long as it includes pink, red and neutrals of your choice. For an abundance of incredible inspiration, please visit both challenge blogs (linked above) to see what our two very talented design teams and guest designer Trina Phan, have created.
The CH challenge will remain open until 9 am EST February 14th. We hope to see your card in the gallery and don't forget to link up over at Inkspirational too!

I just love the variety of designs on your beautiful hearts Stef! Wonderfully framed in the black and pink with the scalloped edge! Julia xx
Well, I am certainly glad those hearts finally saw some ink. Sounds like a great set with a matching die! Love the designs on the hearts and the scalloped frame.
I love this valentine, and think that anyone--child or adult--would be thrilled to find this in the mail! Your design is perfection--love that stacked scalloped border!
Stef, this is such a fabulous and colorful card! Your color choices and striking layout made a lasting impression on me. Glad you got it out, used it in such a great way and shared it with us at Time Out!!
Your hearts have so much interest on them and the simple layered design certainly shows them off perfectly Stef! A fab Valentine. :)
This is so pretty. I love the grid of hearts you used. Amazing design.
I love the shapes and coloring on these hearts, Stef! They make a sweet valentine! I don't think we ever outgrow getting valentines so I'm sure your granddaughter will love getting this!
Glad your finally inked them up! Your square card is cute, Stef and your granddaughter is going to love it!

Absolutely smitten with your pretty pink hearts; talk about an impressive debut! Your granddaughter will love this, as do I. I'm so happy that we're collaborating with Inkspirational for this challenge; it's wonderful to see your card in the gallery there.

Stef I love the card you posted for my pink and red challenge. Also so glad to see that you used a set you purchased but hadn't the time to use until now. Beautiful card and your layering is divine!!
Such jazzy hearts Stef!!! Love the arrangement and excited for our team collaborating with yours~
I recognized that set right away, Stef! But I always take the lazy route instead of layering the hearts. It pays to do it the "right" way--your card is simply gorgeous! Thanks for the shout out!
Love the beautiful shimmer and shine. Great job stamping the layers. Adorable Valentine card for your granddaughter!
I too still send Valentine's to my grands and the youngest is 22. I love the way the different colors play off each other on your grid of hearts, Stef. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Time Out.
So cute! I love the varied artsy look of the hearts and they look wonderful on a square card design. Thank you for joining us at Time Out!
