Welcome back! This afternoon I am slipping in just under the deadline at Stamp Ink Paper with a card I made using the current sketch challenge. I made it for one of my nieces who is getting married next Saturday.
My card uses several components from the Simon Says Stamp November 2017 card kit (while the kit is sold out, most of the items in the kit are available individually). One of the swoon-worthy items in the kit was the dark brown embossed specialty paper that I used in the background. While not a "traditional" wedding color, it is so gorgeous that I think it works well, plus I think my niece will appreciate something out of the ordinary. Full disclosure, I CASEd Shari Carroll's card here (first card in the post), using the same papers and floral spray design but changed the layout to match this sketch. I was in a real hurry to get this card made and in mail, so CASEing her card and using this awesome sketch really helped speed up the process.
I started by heat embossing some leaves and flowers from the Kind Flowers stamp set, did simple water coloring with some Daniel Smith watercolors, and fussy cut them. Using a die cut scallop circle, I started the layering with a large flower and butterfly sticker, added a couple Darice Gold Leaf sequins, then layered on the fussy cut pieces and set it aside while I completed the card base.
The embossed specialty paper was layered on an Ivory card base, then vertical patterned paper panel edged with scalloped brush gold card stock was adhered on the right side of the card. Lastly, the floral spray circle was added using foam tape.
