Hi there! I hope your weekend is going well. Today I'm sharing a card made with one of the stamps from the beautiful Altenew Peony Blossom stamp set. It's the delicate small blossom from the set that I water colored with Distress inks.
The flower was stamped in Versamark on watercolor card stock, then heat embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder. Using a #3 size watercolor paint brush, I started with the lightest color, Shaded Lilac, then added Dusty Concord to the areas where I wanted shading. Mowed Lawn ink was used for the stem. I used my heat tool to dry the image, covered it with a mask, then used an ink duster to brush on Tumbled Glass ink in the background. A Layering Circles framelit from Stampin' Up! was used to die cut the piece.
For the background, I again used the ink duster tool to add ink. Starting at the top with Shaded Lilac, next with Dusty Concord and finally Tumbled Glass. This is only the second time I've used the ink duster tool, so I will need to work a bit more on my technique to better blend the light and dark colors. Despite the blue and purple not overlapping and blending as well as I would have liked, I still like how it turned out, especially after I used a mister to add water, then took the sprayer out to drop larger dots of water. After letting it set for a minute, I used a paper towel to dab and create the water splotches. This didn't show up well on the blue, so I watered down some Dusty Concord ink and splattered it on the panel with a large paint brush. Once dried, the panel was die cut with the largest Stitched Rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp.
The sentiment from another Altenew stamp set was heat embossed on a piece of black card stock and trimmed down to add to the bottom of the scallop circle, which was added to the panel atop a lavender horizontal embossed strip. The last elements added were Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets and sequins, and Clear Wink of Stella painted on the flower.
This week's fabulous sketch from Freshly Made Sketches was used for my layout inspiration. I've added a link below, so do be sure to head over to the blog and check out all the gorgeous inspiration!
I'm also entering this in the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where this week the theme is Fantastic Florals. Here's the link SSS Wednesday Challenge - Fantastic Florals.
Thank you so much for your visit! As always, I'd love to hear from you if you have a moment to leave a comment. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
